Gene Thompson, MD
Gene spent the majority of his life living, studying, and working in Texas before coming to Oregon. He studied mathematics and computer science as an undergraduate (and later earned a master’s degree in physics) at Texas A&M, After, he taught high school mathematics and physics for 14 years before returning to school to earn his medical doctorate and complete his family medicine residency at Texas Tech University Health Sciences Center.
Gene is passionate about mental health and obesity treatment and puts in a lot of effort listening to his patients and helping them to understand these conditions. In his downtime, Gene spends a lot of time with his wife and one-year-old son, and engages in a wide variety of recreational activities, ranging anywhere from reading to improv theater to Brazilian jujitsu.
